How to Play 17-0
Build a college football super-team one spin at a time, then find out if it can survive a full season. A perfect year means winning all 12 regular-season games, your conference championship and four playoff rounds: 17-0.
1. Spin the wheel
Each spin lands on a program from the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC or Notre Dame, plus an era: a five-year window between 1990 and today. You can draft any real player who played for that program during that era.
Want a single-league run? Choose Conference mode before you start and the wheel only lands on schools from that conference. Era mode does the same for a decade: pick the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s or 2020s and every spin stays inside it. The two stack.
2. Draft ten players
You take one player per spin until all ten roster slots are filled:
- Offense: QB, RB, two WRs and a TE.
- Defense: one EDGE, one LB, one CB, one S, and a Flex slot that takes any defender.
If a spin has nobody who fits an open slot, you get a free spin. Every player has a 0 to 99 overall rating, graded against the players of their own era, so a 1995 star and a 2024 star compare straight up. Browse the top 100 players or a program's history to scout ahead.
3. Pick a difficulty
- Easy: hand-pick your first player from the full pool, then spin for the other nine. You get 5 re-rolls and your team plays slightly above its rating.
- Hard: the standard game. Every pick comes from a spin, with 5 re-rolls.
- Impossible: no re-rolls, every overall is hidden while you draft, and you get 3 scouts to reveal individual ratings. Half the 90+ stars sit out each spin. Every overall is revealed once the season is played, and scores on Impossible go higher to make up for it.
A re-roll swaps either the team (keeping the era) or the era (keeping the team) of the current spin.
4. Play the season
Once the roster is full, the sim plays out your season game by game against real teams from across the eras:
- Twelve regular-season games.
- Your conference championship game, if you win your conference race.
- A 12-team playoff. Conference champions get in, and strong teams can earn an at-large bid.
- Up to four playoff rounds, ending with the national championship.
Win probability comes from the gap between your team rating and your opponent's. Your weakest unit matters: a great offense can't fully carry a soft defense.
5. Score and share
Every finished season gets a grade from 1 to 100 (up to 135 on Impossible). Wins, a conference title, playoff wins, a national championship and individual awards like the Heisman add points. Weaker rosters that overachieve earn a bonus.
